Bay Radio has recognised that recentlym due to the current economic crisis charities hav in general seen a reduction in their fundrasing revenue in 2011 from 30% up to 70%. However Bay Radop recent Christmas Appeal resulted in four times as many donations than their appeal in 2010. During the past year Bay Radio has increased its charity profile through promoting and supporting charity events across the radio network and has been directly involved with raising almost 50.000 euros in the last six months of 2011 plus has helped to promote numerous other charity events through their website and on air publicity.

Bay Radios success is due to their ability to publicise and promote an event on radio therefore reaching a wider audience, which has recently increased due to their new transmitter in Orihuela on 89.1 fm broadcasting from Alicante to Cartagena and is the highest ranked online English speaking radio station in Spain.

Barc has been selected by Bay Radio from all other charities in the area and we consider it an honour to be chasen for this Costa Blanca appeal. We are therefore arranging a Sponsored Bar Crawl through Busto on May 6th to raise money for BARC our own local concecrn with 25% of all money raised being donated to Caritas to help feed those thrown into poverty through unemployment.

We would like to give everyone in Busot the opportunity to become involved with what we hope to be a fun day and unique fund raising event. We hope you will join the walk and attract sponsors with which to swell our coffers for these good causes.

Bars will be pre notified if they are on the list to be visited as we hope to attract at least 200 participants on the day. Bar owners already signed up for inclusion have already offered discounted drinks for those taking part and many have said they will offer free Tapas.

Bay Radio is currently coordinating the mass 5km walk to take place on Sunday 6th May with a single charity organising the walk in each area to maximise income, except in the case of larger towns such as Alicante where it may be possible to stage more than one event. Its aim is to unite all the charities along the coast and also to unite the communities by forging links with the Spanish community who they and we believe will help support this event as we will be sending a press release to all the Town Halls for local publicity.

There will be a flat entry fee of 5 Euros per adult and 1 per child which Bay Radio feel reflects the current economic situation.

BARC will also issue a souvenir wristband to identify those taking part which will be handed out when registration fee is received.

Caritas is linked to the church but helps all people regardless of race or creed.

Currently 40% of unemployed people in the Valencia community have no form of incom e through benefits and many rely on food parcels from Caritas. BARC is your own local animal rescue service and survives solely on money it raises itself through Boot sales and organising fund raising events in local bars. It currently looks after over 30 dogs found in Busot which are available for adoption.

Bay Radio will commit to promoting this event by making the details of the charity organiser in each area known through an extensive on air advertising campaign; they will also be utilising Facebook and their website In addition to the press releases for town halls there will be extensive advertising in local and provincial newspapers and television. Bay Radio plan to run up to seven competitions alongside this event such as prizes for the most successful fund raisers taking part in the walk as individuals or as teams, this will encourage each entrant to get as much sponsorship as possible.

Bay Radio and BARC aim to emphasise the fun aspect of the day as well as making people aware of the need to support local charities and the needy. We will encourage bars and clubs who may not want to walk to collect funds and donate them to the local fund raiser of the event in their area and Bay Radio will give a prize to the highest fund raiser in this category. There will be a live start on air at a round 11.15am and during the walk the radio station will interview someone from each charity on air by phone for an update of their event.
